INTRODUCTION

This page will walk you through the firmware upgrade process. ONDA tablets all use their own specific firmware, so be sure to download the correct file for your Make & Model. In our case, the “Vi40 Elite (V3)”.

NOTE: To get into “U-Mode” (Discovery Mode) on the Vi40, IT IS the CENTER "MENU" key on the front of the device you hold down, NOT the back nor the home key! Also, the Onda Vi40 Elite can sometimes be a bit tricky to fully power down. What works for me, fully boot the device up. Hold down power until the shutdown menu appears. Choose to shutdown the device and wait for 3 minutes until the device fully shuts down. DO NOT have the power plugged in during any of this, BUT MAKE SURE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED!!!

NOTE: Upon the first boot after flashing/updating any firmware: Just leave the tablet alone for about 10-15 minutes while everything boots and finishes installing. Even once Android starts up, just set it aside for awhile. Go get some coffee, or smoke a blunt/bowl (LoL) and then come back to it. During first boot many of the apps are being auto-installed so performance will seem slow for the first few minutes. This is only the first boot and all subsequent boots will be way faster. Hence... just leave it alone for a little while and come back to it. LoL.

INSTRUCTIONS

Before you begin with the walk-through below, do the following:

- Power up your device like normal. (You should have a FULL BATTERY CHARGE !)

- Hold down the “POWER” button on your device until the shutdown prompt appears.

- Hit "Yes" to do a normal shutdown.

- Wait 3-5 minutes to ensure that the device is totally turned off.

- Proceed with following below...
